Who Invented Nerdle?

Nerdle is an invention of the British data scientist Richar Mann from London. He launched the numbers version of the viral puzzle game after his 14-year-old daughter said she wished there was a Wordle equivalent for “maths nerds”.

How is Nerdle played?

Nerdle Online Maths Puzzle is played by guessing the correct numbers and equations instead of words in the online puzzle in a total of six attempts.

The game of nerdle is divided into eight cells or tiles in each row and there are six rows in total. You get six tries to fill the cells correctly in the rows to successfully complete the puzzle.

After each guess by the player, the color of the tiles will change to show how close your guess is to the right answer.

Green Colour:  Tile with green colour represents that you have guessed the right number or equation symbol at the right place. There are eight cells in each row of nerdle to fill.

Purple Colour:  If your guess colour of the tile or cell you have filled turns purple means your answer is correct but at the wrong place in the puzzle.

Black Colour: If the tile you have filled turns black in the puzzle means that the number or equation of the symbol is wrong and not in the puzzle.

Rules of Nerdle Puzzle Game?

  1. There are eight “letters” 
  2. A “letter” is one of 0123456789+-*/=
  3. A “word” must be a calculation that is mathematically correct so must have one “=”
  4. The number to the right of the “=” is just a number 
  5. The standard order of operations applies, so calculate * and / before + and –
  6. Order matters. If the answer is 10+20=30, then 20+10=30 isn’t close enough.
